Aims & Scope
Advanced Issues in Criminal Law: Sex Offenses is a scholarly, student-written journal committed to advancing legal analysis and interdisciplinary scholarship on the complex and evolving landscape of sex offense law. The journal provides a forum for legal scholars to research the legal, social, ethical, and procedural dimensions of sex offenses. The journal aims to publish articles that explore a wide range of topics including, but not limited to: statutory and common law developments; constitutional challenges; evidentiary and procedural issues; sentencing practices; registration and notification regimes; restorative justice approaches; the intersection of mental health and criminal responsibility; and the impact of race, gender, and socio-economic status on the enforcement and adjudication of sex offense laws. In addition to traditional legal scholarship, the journal encourages interdisciplinary research from fields such as psychology, sociology, and popular culture that inform and enrich the understanding of legal issues related to sex offenses. Through its publications, Advanced Issues in Criminal Law: Sex Offenses seeks to contribute to thoughtful, informed discourse and to influence policy and practice in ways that are just, evidence-based, and protective of both public safety and individual rights.
