The Parents' Perspective on Financing Their Child's College Education

Abstract

The parents of current and prospective college students at a large state university in the Midwest were surveyed in an effort to analyze the parents' perspective on college financing. The survey results offered insight into what parents think about college financing; what they know and don't know about financing options and financial aid; and how they perceive the college financial aid process. Results point to ways that parents can be better informed about the college financial aid process. [This research was supported by a grant from the NASFAA Sponsored Research Grant Program.
